Swalwell Then and Now

Like any other village or town, Swalwell has seen many changes during its short history with much of the old village being demolished, whilst at the same time expanding with the construction of various housing developments of the 1930s to the recent developments at the foot of Whickham Bank, the top and bottom of Ruskin Road and Grosvenor Avenue.

The following images show some of the changes in Swalwell over the past 60 years or so. Obviously some of the images are at a slightly different angle, or a representation of the area where an exact photograph could not be taken. However, this does not detract from what has changed in the village.
